Our half day Margaret River tours are the ideal snapshot of the region for those of you who don’t have much time, but still want to experience the area. Also, unlike most wine tours, we focus on the most delectable local foods that are on offer in the region as well - because who doesn’t want some cheese with their wine?
Are you craving the ultimate escape down south, but don’t want to break the bank? Perhaps a girl’s or couples’ trip, where you can indulge on wine, cheese and chocolate - with someone else as the designated driver? Harvest Tours is here to help! We offer an affordable Half Day Wine & Food Tour, which gives you the opportunity to taste local produce and premium wines from all around the Margaret River region.
Our first stop is Brown Hill Estate - a family owned and operated vineyard, with a passionate team that utilises traditional wine-making methods such as hand picking and sorting the fruit. They specialise in using small, intensely flavoured grapes, which create deeper, richer wines.
During our visit, you will taste samples from each of their premium wine ranges, and as the cellar door is located within the vineyards, you can observe the wine-making processes happening outside as well. We also have the opportunity to tour the barrel room and learn more about the history of the winery from their trusted experts.
The second winery on our journey is McHenry Hohnen vineyard - a forward-thinking, sustainable business that focuses on biodynamic farming and minimal intervention wine-making. The team behind the process are advocates for this natural approach, and believe their grapes are even more high-quality because of it. As their vineyard manager Mike says ‘a better environment gives you better wine.’
You will have a few chances to test Mike’s theory with a series of delicious wine tastings, followed by sampling the farm’s renowned free-range, grass-fed meats - which can be enjoyed either cured or smoked.
Woody Nook Wines is the third vineyard on our trip, and also the spot where we will be stopping for lunch. They are a genuine boutique winery, with a rich history dating back to 1982 when they planted the first vines. The cellar door is idyllically located, with peaceful jarrah and karri forest as a backdrop - the perfect place to sip wines and enjoy the serenity. During our visit, we will taste a variety of their wines, including their signature crisp, fruity whites and rich, structured reds.
After the wine tasting, we will head to The Nookery Cafe, where you can have a full glass of wine and gorge on a range of local produce with their sharing plate - this offers gourmet cheeses, homemade hummus, cold cuts, seafood and fruits.
Your day begins with pick up at the Margaret River Visitors Centre at 11:45am. Make sure you are all ready to go at this time, because you won’t want to lose a second of this day!
The first vineyard on our little trip will be Brown Hill Estate. Here, you can take your time tasting a variety of their wines and then enjoy a tour of the barrel room.
Our next stop is at McHenry Hohnen vineyard for your first of many wine tastings. These will be paired with a range of meats - but don’t worry, you will get even more food soon!
Our second winery stop is at McHenry Hohnen, where you can appreciate the sustainable, eco-friendly practices while tasting the fruitful results.
For lunch, we will be at the stunning Woody Nook Wines, where you will enjoy some wine tastings first, and then have the opportunity to sit back with a full glass of wine and a generously sized sharing plate.
The last vineyard of the day is Fermoy Estate, a renowned, sustainable winery which offers a range of award-winning wines for you to try during the visit.
A trip to Margaret River wouldn’t be complete without checking out the natural olive oil skincare range at Vasse Virgin - you can also purchase some gourmet olive oil themed foods.
To ensure you have enough energy for the last place, we will make a quick stop at Gabriel Chocolate Factory so you can indulge in some fine chocolates.
Our last stop will be at the Wild Hop Brewing Company. This is an opportunity to chill out and cleanse your palate with a nice ale while you look out over the bush and a tranquil dam.
